Born and raised on the West coast of British Columbia, David completed the majority of his College and University studies in Eastern Canada. After completing his undergraduate degree with honours, he went on to receive his Master's degree with honours in theology and counselling from the University of Toronto.

1986 Television: member of CTV talk panel, hosted by Laurier LaPierre (subject: contemporary world faith issues).
1988 - 1992 Led Effective Communication workshops for staff couples. Correctional Service of Canada, Pacific Region. Over 700 attendees.
1999, 2000 Conducted community public lectures on Depression.
1997 - Present Member of the Chilliwack Couples' Consortium. Helps facilitate and lead workshops for couples on effective communication and conflict resolution.
2004 February 2004: David featured on the Drew Savage and Nat Hunter Show on Z95.3 FM and asked for his expert opinion on various aspects of sex and relationships.
April 3, 2004: David presented a fun and informative workshop called: "Good Sex For Life" at the Health and Wellness Conference at the University College of the Fraser Valley in Chilliwack.
2005 - 2006 February, 2004: David was featured on the Playboy Radio's phone-in sex show out of Los Angeles as well as in the Globe and Mail.

2007 - Present Since July, 2007, Dr. Mckenzie is a regular monthly guest on the Fanny Kiefer's Studio 4 TV Show on Shaw TV. Fanny refers to Dr. McKenzie as "Our resident couples counsellor and sex therapist."
